Outdoor
Movie Services & Equipment - Frequently Asked Questions
#1 - I am not charging admission, do I have to license the movie?
- YES! All movies not displayed in a private home setting must be licensed
for public display. The fee for licensing a film is quite reasonable.
information can be found at http://www.mpaa.org/piracy.asp
#2 - Is 35mm film more expensive to display than digital?
- The answer depends on the size of the outdoor movie screen. For screen
sizes under 65' in width, the answer is yes. For sizes 65' and greater
it can be less expensive to use 35mm. 35mm film does give the most genuine
movie experience but digital has come a long way in the past few years
and the results of an excellent digital display can be astounding.
#3 - Can I show outddoor movies in the daytime?
- No, just like in a movie theater, it has to be dark outside.
