• Do you have the real estate? You need to have access to the real estate before you delve completely into the planning. Studio's require that no one be able to see your screen that did not pay an admission fee. Is you location going to be permanent or temporary?
• Movie studios make money from royalties paid on gate. When you do your planning, understand that 50-60% or more of your gate will be going back to the studios. Studios require a box office ticket system so that they are assured of the integrity of your ticket sales process.
• What will be my startup costs? Projectos and screen are only part of the investment that you will need to get started. You will need an appropriate structure from which to project. This structure mist be equipped with electrical power, ventilation and enough room to operate a movie projection system, and be secure enough to prevent theft. The following are estimates of a "normal" drive-in startup cost. Projector/Film travel/FM Transmitter $50,000, inflatable AIRSCREEN - $35,0000, Box office system - $15,000, concessions - $30,000. Othere costs include your projection building/platofrm, electrical improvements, permits and licenses, etc. Overall a budget of $150,000-250,000 should be planned for a single or screen drive-in.
