2014 marks the 10-year anniversary of one of Outdoor Movies’ largest and most prestigious events, the Traverse City Film Festival. Each year, Academy Award-winning director Michael Moore brings the festival to his hometown of Traverse City, MI for a week of entertaining and enlightening films.
This year, the festival ran from July 29 through August 3. The most successful year to date, more than 130,000 people attended, with three-quarters of the screenings being completely sold out. The non-profit event infused culture into the resort region and aided in the reconstruction of historic cinema buildings.
Outdoor Movies brings a 65’ x 33’ AIRSCREEN Classic inflatable movie screen to the festival’s Open Space to provide free movies for the guests of Traverse City. This site is a true test of the durability of our outdoor movie screens. We set up this giant on the windy shores of Grand Traverse Bay in Lake Michigan. Many years we have seen gusts up to 35 mph, and our screens have withstood everything that’s been thrown at them.
To accompany this monster of an outdoor movie screen, Outdoor Movies brings along one of our Christie Digital Cinema projectors. Our top-notch services are the only thing suitable for Hollywood directors such as Michael Moore. Outdoor Movies has been involved with the Traverse City Film Festival since its opening year, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for this exciting festival.
