At Outdoor Movies, we only work with the highest quality projection equipment and inflatable movie screens in the world. We are certified Christie digital cinema partners and dealers, and they are the global leader and innovator in visual solutions. It should come as no surprise that they have, yet again, stepped outside of the box with the newest and best in 3D technology.
“Recent declines in domestic 3D movie attendance are a sign that the novelty is wearing off, with audiences less willing to pay a premium for what is all too often a mediocre experience,” said Don Shaw, Senior Director of Product Management at Christie.
What is making the experience less than perfect? Brightness. Many moviegoers, and even some organizations new to the game, are unfamiliar with the importance of a bright image in the quality of the projection. Christie recognizes this with their recent announcement to demo new projection technology that could be the future of the industry.
The new laser projection technology features six primary colors (6P) and it as least twice as efficient as the best 3D movie systems on the market, giving off up to 72,000 lumens per projector. Christie will use Dolby 3D glasses that have been specifically engineered to operate with the new technology.
After the demo at CinemaCon 2014 and the National Association of Broadcasters NAB Show, Christie hopes to fine tune the technology and install it in movie theaters and high performance projection venues. Who knows, maybe you’ll see it at Outdoor Movies sometime in the future!
