Recapture the nostalgia of a drive-in movie theater with the help of Outdoor Movies.
From Sept. 27-Oct. 6, Outdoor Movies assisted the Leitersburg Theater, a ten screen indoor theater, with a special ten day drive-in event that featured double features of some of the summer’s biggest box office hits.
Outdoor Movies supplied a 65-foot inflatable screen, digital cinema projection and FM transmission to the event, which modernized the experience and made it the best experience possible.
“The outdoor movie event is an affordable, safe and fun family experience unlike anything offered around town said Peter Bickford, one of the event’s organizers.
To get the 1950’s drive-in feel, Leitersburg Cinemas did a lot to prepare. They completely remade an overgrown lot (complete with poison ivy) that was a former drive-in site, into a luxury, modern drive-in.
That included installing turf for lawn seats, installing in a VIP seating area with leather seats, and adding 40 dump trucks worth of crushed rock for a traditional drive-in area with room for 190 cars.
Movies included: Despicable Me 2, World War Z, Monsters University, Iron Man 3 and a retro hit: Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The event was very well attended, feedback was very positive from attendees. On the last Saturday night, paid attendance was over 1100 people.
