All good things must come to an end – at least temporarily. And for those of us who are experiencing colder weather, that good thing is this year’s outdoor movie season. Now, that isn’t to say we can’t squeeze out another few weeks. We have outdoor movie events running through the end of October! But eventually, we’ll have to pack up much of our equipment until the weather warms up.
It is imperative to properly store your inflatable movie screens during the winter months. Many of our customers may not use their equipment for six months at a time due to cooler temperatures. The way we see it, you have two options. You can thoroughly clean your inflatable movie screen and frame, and store as is; or you can remove the surface for extra precaution.
To clean your inflatable frame and surface, use water and a cleaning agent such as Fantastik. Make sure there is no bleach in the cleaner! This will ruin your equipment. Also be sure that everything is completely dry before you begin to fold and roll your screen.
We recommend removing the screen surface from anything 40 feet wide and larger. There is a chance that mold, mildew or other build up can occur if the surface remains on the frame in storage. The risk is smaller in screens less than 30 feet wide. If you do decide to remove the surface, it should be stored in the box it was received in, or another container of the sort.
After you have properly rolled and packaged your inflatable movie screen for the winter, it is helpful to record dates and tasks. The last step in your winter movie screen storage plan is to find the best place to keep it! Always protect your equipment in a climate-controlled environment. Extreme cold and heat can be detrimental to your outdoor movie screen.
At the end of the day, the better you take care of your inflatable movie screens, the longer they will last and greater they will perform.
