The festival announced this week which movies will be screened at this year’s “Tribeca Drive-In” from the 18th through the 20th. The movies are shown at World Financial Center Plaza, the festival’s website says, and this year will include old favorites like “The Birds” and “Beetlejuice.” This event will also screen a movie that the festival has already received quite a bit of press for – “Lil Bub & Friendz,” about the internet cat video phenomenon. In addition to the films, Tribeca Drive-In will have other activities depending on the movie, including costume contests for Beetlejuice and cat prizes for Lil Bub & Friendz.
This will not be the first year for the Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair, which will take place on April 27, and where venues in Tribeca will have different activities and events.
“The celebration will include talented performers, dancers, stilt walkers, Broadway performances, arts and crafts, face painters, puppet shows, music, games and much more,” the Tribeca Film Festival website said. “Students from dozens of local schools will also be at the fair with live performances and vibrant student artwork.”
Other film festival organizers can create similar events, adding outdoor movie screenings and fair to help a festival grow bigger and reach more people. By putting on a wide variety of events, festivals can use these tools to remain competitive in the growing industry.
